ASUS has launched its latest Vivobook S 15, an AI-powered computer developed in collaboration with Microsoft and Qualcomm. The device is available for pre-order from the ASUS e-shop and several Australian retailers, including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, and Officeworks, retailing at AUD $2,699. This marks ASUS's introduction of Copilot+ PC technology to the Australian market.

The Vivobook S 15, the company's first Copilot+ PC, features a 15.6-inch OLED display designed for content creation, productivity, and learning. It combines the Windows 11 operating system with the computational power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Processor. This configuration aims to deliver advanced AI capabilities directly on the device, enhancing user experience without relying on cloud computing.

Bradley Howe, Head of Consumer at ASUS Australia, stated, "AI has been building momentum as a technology, particularly with the use of personal assistance. We are ushering in a new era of AI computing where AI takes on a more integrated role in our lives and in the PC space, helping to make what Australians do on their PCs easier, smarter, and faster." He added that the Vivobook S 15 has been designed to be a versatile companion for creators, professionals, and learners.

With a 3K 120 Hz ultra-large OLED display and an immersive Harman Kardon Dolby Atmos audio system, the Vivobook S 15 is encased in an all-metal body that is 14.7 mm thin and weighs 1.42 kg. The product features a single-zone RGB backlit keyboard with a dedicated Copilot key for instant access to AI tools, aiming to revolutionise everyday tasks and user experiences.

ST Liew, Vice President of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Asia-Pacific and President of Qualcomm Taiwan & SEA, highlighted the significance of the Snapdragon X Elite platform: "The PC is reborn with Snapdragon X Elite, and we are excited to collaborate with ASUS to put incredible innovation like the ASUS Vivobook S 15 in the hands of users, making a formidable range of AI devices that meet the needs of consumers now and in the future."

The Vivobook S 15 features Qualcomm's Hexagon NPU, which provides 45 TOPS AI processing speeds, ensuring high performance for AI-driven tasks. This chip operates directly on the device rather than relying on cloud infrastructure, aiming for enhanced productivity and smooth multitasking without draining the battery.

Dan Johnson, Windows & Microsoft 365 Category Lead for Microsoft ANZ, underscored the synergy between cloud and device-based AI capabilities: "We believe the richest AI experiences will only be possible when the cloud and device work together in concert. Now with the introduction of the Copilot+ PCs, I'm excited that together with our partners, such as ASUS, we can set the frame for the next decade of Windows innovation."

The Vivobook S 15 has up to 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage and 32GB LPDDR5X memory. It employs ASUS IceCool thermal technology for efficient cooling and sustained performance. Furthermore, it includes exclusive AI software, such as ASUS StoryCube for digital asset management, AI Noise Cancellation for clearer audio during calls, and adaptive technologies for power and security management.

ASUS Lumina OLED displays promise enhanced visual clarity and colour accuracy, essential for users engaged in content creation. Pantone validation, Delta E < 1 calibration, and additional certifications aim to deliver superior visual performance and eye comfort. The product also includes Harman Kardon-certified sound for an immersive audio experience.

The Vivobook S 15 offers connectivity options such as two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 4.0 Gen 3 Type-C ports. It also supports WiFi 7 technology for faster wireless connections. Security features include an IR camera for quick login and a physical webcam cover for enhanced privacy.

The Vivobook S 15 complies with the US MIL-STD 810H military standard for durability, covering tests against extreme environmental conditions. It also demonstrates a focus on user privacy and security with integrated safeguards.

The Vivobook S 15 S5507 model will be available from June 18th in Australian and New Zealand markets. The targeted retailers will facilitate both online and in-store purchases.
